19/9 Davenport After Match Press Conference

R: The first set in this match only took 16 minutes. Was that the quickest set you’ve ever had?

D: I don’t know the exact time of the first set but it was pretty fast. I’m happy that my first match was quite easy so that I can have a rest. I did feel tired after flying here from Bali.

R: How do you balance the tennis and your baby?

D: I’m still learning how to do it. I have to focus hours a day on my son and it’s really important. It’s hard to be good at both and I’m still learning.

R: You said your arms are a bit hurt because you have to carry your son as he’s growing bigger and bigger. Will you hit the ball harder because your arms are getting stronger?

D: Yes, as he’s getting bigger and bigger, my arms are hurting more. But I think months later I will get used to that. There are still ways to go for me to be more patient. Luckily he’s quite a good sleeper.

R: You won the title in Bali shortly after your return to the tennis court. Did you feel surprised?

D: I really was surprised. I never imagined that I would win the tournament. Before I was leaving for Bali I didn’t know how ready I was. I was a little nervous at first because I didn’t want to go there and have bad results. It was a great week and I decided to keep going in China Open.
