Davenport advances to second round at China Open

　　BEIJING (TICKER) -- After winning the Bali Open in her first singles tournament in over a year, Lindsey Davenport may be well on her way to her second win in as many tournaments.

　　Davenport, a three-time Grand Slam winner, beat qualifier Julie Ditty, 6-0, 6-2, in her opening match at the $600,000 China Open on Wednesday. The tournament is just Davenport's second since taking a year off due to pregnancy.

　　The 31-year-old Davenport needed just 48 minutes to dismiss Ditty. She will next face the No. 8 seed Eleni Daniilidou of Greece, who coasted to a 6-2, 6-1 rout of Olga Govortsova of Belarus in the opening match on Tuesday.

　　Fifth-seeded Swiss Martina Hingis, who defeated local favorite Tiantian Sun in her opening-round match, will face another local product when she takes on Shuai Peng on Wednesday.

　　Third-seeded Frenchwoman Amalie Mauresmo, who is making her return after missing two months due to a thigh injury, will take on Ioana Raluca Olaru of Romania in her second-round match.

　　Hungarian Agnes Szavay, who made it to the quarterfinals of the US Open, rounds out the seeded matches when she faces Dominika Cibulkova in the second round after taking a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Marina Erakovic of New Zealand.

　　First prize is $88,265.
